Check out Cherry Hill Campground in College Park

From Cherry Hill Campground you can take the Metro bus #83 Cherry Hill- pickup right at the campground to the metra station for 1.45 each way.  Then take the Greenbelt Green Line Branch Ave direction to the Archives Navy Memorial Station. You can do this round trip.  The metra fare should be around 5.00 round trip.  You can do transfers at L'Enfant Station and get on or off at the Federal Triangle Station - this is near the White House or the Smithsonia Station.  This is near the Washington Monument.

Things to do in Washington DC

White House U.S Capital Library of Congress
Washington Monument Lincoln Memorial National Archives Museum
Vietnam Memorial Korean War Memorial WWII Memorial
Smithsonian Air & Space Museum Smithsonian American History Museum Smithsonian Freer Art Gallery

Go to all the museums in the Washington DC area. The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum has a 2nd museum at one of the airports. At Arlington National Cemetery is the Women in the Military Service of America Memorial and Museum. This is at the head of the gates for Arlington National Cemetery.

There are a lot of new museums downtown. We want to do the spy museum when we get back in 2011. Between Baltimore and DC on the BW Parkway is the National Cryptological Museum. It is free and the docents are usually retired NSA workers.

In DC, VA or Annapolis, MD, go to Phillips Seafood. They have marvelous crab cakes and scallops. Also, the museums at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore are great. Also around the Inner Harbor, we found several fish markets where you can buy your own or go to their resturant for them to cook it for you.
