Aransas National Wildlife Refuge –
Excellent Day Trip.
Established in 1937. This diverse habitat attract over 390
species of birds including the endangered Whooping Crane.
It's home to the largest wild flock of whoopers. The park
opens 1/2 hour before sunrise and closes 1/2 hour after sunset.
Whooping cranes are the tallest bird in North America standing
nearly 5 feet tall. Their wingspan measures about 7 feet
across.
