Campgrounds to check out:

We stayed at Shore Hills CG in Boothbay in 2008...it was very nice....big sites!

In Bar Harbor we stayed at the Narrows Too....liked it too

We did Rockport, Eastport, Moosehead Lake, and Lakes Region last summer. We stayed at Camden Hills in Rockport. It is now a Morgan Resort. We took a schooner day trip out of the Rockport Harbor to the surrounding islands. Great views and wildlife (seals, porpoise, water fowl) . Visit Mount Battie State Park for the view of the harbor. Downtown has great shops and restaurants. Bar Harbor, climb Cadillac Mount and tour the carriage trails in the park. If you stay in the Old Orchard area, Bailey's RV Resort can handle 40' MH. Just request the area in the back or around Ashley Pond, nice large sites and not as crowded as the older section. Point of Pines is a nice quiet beach and Bailey's has trolly service to that beach and Old Orchard downtown and beach. Camden Hills and Baileys' both have heated pools which is a must if you like to swim in Maine and you do not have polar bear genes!

I spend a lot of time in Bar Harbor. I would suggest 4-5 days, but it really depends on the types of things that you like to do. Here are a few of the things that are available in BH. They have approx 50 miles of carriage paths that are great for bike riding (no cars allowed). There is a couple hundred miles of hiking paths. Excellent kayaking. Lots of shopping in downtown BH. You can go for a whale watch or sail on a 4 masted schooner. You can easily spend a day in Acadia National Park just doing the "park loop road" (scenic spots) and driving to the top of Cadillac Mountain (first place on the east coast that the sun hits). Good luck

Check out Brunswick and the New Meadow River...  Also Thomas Point Beach - Mud Flats for Clamming

Bar Harbor - Narrows Two Campground

Burlington, VE is now on our list of favorite places as are the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  Our niece spent a week with us in August - we brushed up on our country's history as we ate and drank our way through Boston and then headed out to Cape Cod and Nantucket.  We spent a month in Maine near Bar Harbor.  We hiked, biked and kayaked in Acadia National Park, drove to the most NE place in the US - Lubec, ME before crossing the border again to Campobello Island in New Brunswick, ate LOTS of lobster and got together with a group of ALFA motorhome owners for a 5 day rally - Maine style!  We really enjoyed Maine and look forward to a return visit.
